Tsawwassen Mills Grand Opening

- Stories

The newest shopping centre in Greater Vancouver and the largest built in Canada since 2009, is now officially open!

Located at Highway 17 and 52nd Street – just 30 minutes north of the Washington State border and less than 5 km from the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal, Tsawwassen Mills is easily accessible from Richmond, Vancouver, Surrey, Delta, Langley, Burnaby and New Westminster.

As one of the official brand ambassadors (#TMillsSquad), I was on site to experience the official grand opening first hand. So here are 5 highlights and reasons (among hundred others) for you to check out Tsawwasen Mills this weekend.

Ian Tan Project

It’s very impressive to see Tsawwassen Mills go beyond the typical mall experience by launching a full wing of gallery, showcasing local Canadian artists immediately visible as soon as you walk in the main entrance. After a day of shopping, I can’t think of anything else more relaxing than entering a beautiful white space, art pieces hanging on the wall inviting you for an intimate viewing, and I did just that. Brilliant!

The Outlet by Harry Rosen

Another first in BC, The Outlet by Harry Rosen is another good reason to clear your weekend plans, and make your way down. If you’re planning on updating your fall wardrobe, this is a must-stop. Since it’s no secret I barely fit into menswear sizing, I went all out on their accessory offerings. Sometimes, that’s all you need to spruce up your fall game. And if you’re not as ‘little’ of a fashionisto as I am, I guarantee you will not walk out light handed.

West49 Skate Park

With the fashion industry taking ‘athleisure’ and lounge wear up a notch, we’ve seen a lot of sporty vibe sip through the runway within the last while. Fashion industry’s obsession with the skate culture isn’t new: take Hedi Slimane for Dior Homme, even Rick Owens referencing L.A.’s youthful skate scene. It’s interesting to see West49 make this exciting move to integrate the skate culture into its in-mall retail experience.

Saks OFF 5TH

Saks offers a huge variety of designer brands, ranging from mid-to-high-end luxury at a fraction of the retail price. I was quick to spot few runway pieces even, both for men and women — although the mens section is rather smaller, it’s packed with great selections of well curated clothing, accessories and shoes.

Calvin Klein

Finally, where I spent most of my shopping allowance. How can you not when practically the whole store is 30-60% off. Calvin Klein is known for clean and streamlined aesthetic, one that I constantly gravitate to. And as I say it time and time again — classic pieces are great foundation to anyone’s wardrobe. Calvin Klein is your perfect go-to whether you’re building up a versatile wardrobe or just wanting to add-to your current collection.

My plan to allocate 2 hours of shopping was definitely not enough. I ended up staying all day. If you’re going for the first time, it would be smart to clear your schedule for a full day and wear a comfortable (and still fashionable) shoes. Happy shopping!

PS. I can not wait to show you what I’ve scored – stay tuned for a complete editorial, mainly just me musing all the gems I’ve found.
