In between my crazy New York fashion week schedule, I was very fortunate to have had the chance to see the latest J.Crew Fall/Winter 2013 Collection (Womenswear, Menswear, & even kids wear) up close in person at their showroom, located in their main headquarter here in New York.

Womenswear designer, Tom Mora took inspiration from his recent trip to Marrakesh. And although Moroccan theme has been a runway favorite this season, what I love the most is seeing the theme in classic J.Crew cuts and silhouettes, rich in array of colors, patterns and embellishments of all sorts. The clothes are filled with fabulous details but were kept easy to wear, an originally J.Crew design DNA. There’s a certain sophistication this collection exudes, yet it’s still approachable, clean with a hint of adventure without trying hard.

Menswear designer, Frank Muytjens, draw from the 60s, using David Bailey’s iconic photo of Michael Caine as his main inspiration. I love the English Collegiate vibe Muytjens has put into the collection. Although it tends to be too preppy and proper for my own personal style, I appreciate the overall aesthetic and you might see me incorporating elements from this collection into my own looks — of course worn with those heavily embellished pieces from the womenswear collection and a piece or two from the Junior line.

And let’s not forget these little cuties from the kids wear — a.k.a. M’c kenneth size wear! Don’t you just wish you can fit in them? cargo camou-pants, mint oxfords, tangerine trousers, floral tie for the boys, and navy blue cocoon coat, shearling jacket, multi-colored satchel bag for the girls. How cool can one get by rocking those fun dessert boots with a shiny peplum-top?

It’s very admirable that they put the same work and creativity into creating their Junior line, just like all their other lines. The styling is fun and very playful. If I had the chance to work with J.Crew and put my styling to work, I would definitely be thrilled to style the junior line (I’m keeping my fingers crossed on this one).

It was a quick visit and the time I had was not enough to see everything there was to see. J.Crew’s headquarter is massive and I was welcomed with an open arms. I love visiting people’s work spaces (in this case, company’s). I love being in the room where things come together, and where they happen. It was also a treat to run into Tim Mora as I was leaving the showroom. I’m glad I was able to tell him what an amazing job he’s done and that I admire his work. Frank Muytjens were busy having discussion with a group of men in the lobby. Nevertheless, it was great to see them both again.
