I’m an intern

- Style

As a lot of you my dear readers and followers may have known already, I am currently on the second month of my four-month-internship program at Ion Branding + Design and so far I am loving everything about it. The company is undoubtedly one of the best boutique branding + design firm in Vancouver and I consider myself one lucky fellow to have the opportunity to learn and grow with them.

I was given a project in which I am responsible for producing and filming a new introductory video on our website. After interviewing our designers in the house, I had the greatest pleasure to interview both of my internship host yesterday, a.k.a. my bosses. Tables turned indeed. I think I was more nervous interviewing them as opposed to them being interviewed.

Hearing both of them talk about the company and how they started, their vision for it and the things that led them to success was very inspiring. For a young and freshly grad designer like myself, who is yet to experience what they have experienced in the past, it made a great impact to how I see the industry.

I really believe that design is the most noble of human endevours, I think we, as designers have a real opportunity to make a difference in the world and make the world a better place.

I love distressed and decaying typography, signs that have done the work for many years and just been sitting there, not asking for any raise demanding fare wages, they’re just doing the work and I love to document that kinds of stuffs and I really draw inspiration from that.

I am looking forward to learning everyday, and I don’t think I’ll realize how badly I want to be in this industry, and how much I love it had I not given the chance to intern for Ion.
