This season is yet again, dedicated to what Burberry is well known for, outerwear. Furry boots, military trench, big and bulky jacket with exaggerated collar. Also, notice the new silhouette of boots and trouser combo, the carried over denim shirt (from last season’s D&G) only this time they made it appear dressier paired up with a clean and non-distressed trouser.
Did you notice the absence of the classic Burberry signature check? or how minimal the accessorizing this season is?
I love the unnecessary added straps on the sleeves and the military buttons overload on both the coat’s cuffs and shoulder, I thought it was a witty approach.
although I thought Burberry’s Fall/Winter09 collection is stronger, It is a breath of fresh air for Christopher Bailey to dress down a little, trading dress shoes for furry boots, and well fitted traditional coat into a more looser version with exaggerated collar. This season almost has that Modern British with a Russian twist feel to it. The collection shifted into a dressier concept in the middle carrying over key elements from the first half of the show, like the thick belts and thick winter jackets.
I also love the idea of adding key colors to accent the whole collection and give it more depth. Like the addition of mustard-y yellow and forest-army green.
HERE are my favorite looks from this collection.
