Bright white interior, exposed ceiling, psychedelic mirror-ed change room, and lots of beautiful pieces, complexgeometries opens its first flagship store in Vancouver’s historic and style-centric Gastown and I could not be more excited to welcome them in the neighbourhood.

14 Water Street is the new home to Montreal based, internationally renowned clothing line, complexgeometries. In an interview with Dossier Journal, designer Clayton Evans expressed his fascination with “seasonless, trendless dressing, and his motivation in using Tees as his starting point for exploration.”

The store is full of great pieces that may look simple and minimal at first but upon closer look and inspection, are actually done with careful details and impeccable tailoring. Taking the most pervasive garment in contemporary culture, Evans artistically formed and re-formed Tees into hybrids of tunic, dress, jackets, and coats. The combination of unconventional silhouette and playful proportions with technology-advanced fabric, create the perfect wardrobe essentials.

His clothes allow spontaneity in dressing, a sense of freedom that reflects a free spirited lifestyle, which I’m drawn into.

I fell in-love with this oversized wrapped-coat, sadly it didn’t quite sit right on me. I will, however, comeback to check and see if they have similar style within the next few weeks. I was told they are still getting more stock in.

I decided on this signature asymmetric t-shirt with soft draping under the right arm. I love the raw high-neckline, as well as its asymmetric hem. It does sit a little longer than it’s supposed to, but tucking it in creates more drape which I like a lot.
