My sister has this old studded belt that has a broken buckle. She hasn’t been using it for the longest time but I don’t know why she held on to it till now. Back then I hated it, and I thought it was horrible because the only people who wear them in Vancouver are Rockers, Punk, Emos, and I thought they are ridiculous… AND then BALMAIN came up with these concept of ROCK&ROLL-CHIC, then studs and spikes went flying everywhere in the Fashion scene.
Since the buckle no longer works, I started plucking the studs piece by piece, then putting them into my Tshirts. Then just last night I thought I’d decorate my flush-blazer with these leather belt… they are being held by safety pins on both ends, and I also added my chain necklace.

It seems like the only reason you like the look is because Balmain popularized it… punk and rock have been 2 big influences in the fashion industry long before Balmain so to think about styles that way sounds out right ridiculous. Coming from a so called “Fashionisto” even if you were just a child at the time makes me think less of your blog.

It was an honest statement, I didn’t like it — I didn’t like how the whole ‘punk’ scene incorporate them to their style — it usually tends to come off messy, too much, and too loud (for my own personal taste).

NO, that’s not the only reason. I became a fan of the trend because I learned how to neatly incorporate it to an outfit — and Balmain showed me that. Balmain did NOT JUST popularize the trend, more like they re-presented it in a whole different way; visually pleasing and did it in a classy and clean manner.

Just because they’ve been around longer, it doesn’t mean I should favor them… I believe everyone has their own preferences. I am not dethroning their contribution to the fashion industry — eg. Vivienne WestWood made homeless ppl her inspiration for one of her collections — I think the idea and the execution were brilliant BUT that doesnt mean I should like where the inspirations come from as well (DISCLAIMER: not that I hate homeless ppl.)

I am very sorry you feel that way, but if such little argument was my gauge wether I like a particular blog or not, my bookmark would be empty. However, it’s your own opinion and perogative, but I don’t think saying such statement makes me less of a fashion blogger. — thank you for your comment.
